Solar Panel Installation Cost in Mansfield: 2026 Prices
Last updated: 3 October 2026. Spectrum Energy Systems
For a 4 to 6kWp system with battery storage, Mansfield homes typically pay £9,000 to £9,995 all-in in 2026, with scaffolding, labour and 0% VAT included. These are the prices we quote across NG18 to NG21 from our unit in Bulwell, about 10 miles to the south, with our own crews and no subcontractors. The type of roof changes a quote far more than the postcode does.

Mansfield roofs: where the price moves
Housing in Mansfield runs from Victorian terraces to estates that are still being planned, and the roof decides how much labour a job takes:
- Terraces near the centreOlder terraced streets can have steeper pitches and awkward rear access, and both shape the scaffold plan.
- Semis in Forest Town, Ladybrook and Mansfield WoodhouseSemis make up 43% of households across Mansfield district in the 2021 Census. A plain semi roof is one of the quickest we price. Forest Town's The Avenues were built for Crown Farm Colliery, which closed in 1988.
- Berry Hill and the new estatesThe 2020 Local Plan allocates around 1,700 new homes at Berry Hill. New-build roofs are quick to work on, though small faces can limit the panel count.
- East west plotsPlenty of Mansfield homes face east and west. That suits the split east west system in the table.

Planning, Pleasley Vale and the grid in Mansfield
Mansfield District Council, the only council in Nottinghamshire with a directly elected mayor, decides planning here. Most home solar goes ahead as permitted development. The district has over 200 listed buildings and 11 conservation areas, among them The Park, Market Place, Bridge Street, West Gate, Mansfield Woodhouse and Market Warsop.
One Article 4 direction matters directly for solar. At Pleasley Park and Vale it removes permitted development for solar panels on named cottages at Top Row, Bottom Row and the Old Post Office, so those homes need planning permission first. It does not ban panels. We check the position for any address before design work starts.
The network operator is National Grid Electricity Distribution, through its East Midlands area. A standard home system is notified under G98 once connected, and a larger one needs G99 approval beforehand. On newer estates we also check the MPAN in case an independent network supplies the house.
Home designs we have drawn in Mansfield have 15 panels, and one at Pleasley has 19. We have drawn commercial roofs in the town as well, one of them with 73 panels.
Payback: the sums for one system
The £9,995 system works out like this. Take the Ofgem cap unit rate for October to December 2026, 26.32p per kWh, and a yield of 900 to 1,050kWh per kWp a year for this region under the MCS method. A 5.7kWp array with a 16.1kWh battery then earns back its cost in circa 8 years through lower imports plus export payments. Over winter, a two-rate tariff lets the battery top up cheaply overnight, as our time-shifting guide sets out. These are illustrations, not guarantees, and your own usage and tariff will move them. The savings calculator lets you try your own figures.
Choosing a Mansfield installer
Quotes in Mansfield come from local firms, national call centres and lead-generation websites that pass your details on. Whichever you get, check the MCS certification is held in the company's own name on the official register, check the price already includes scaffolding and electrical work, and check it is the company's own crews on your roof rather than whoever subcontracting found this week. We meet all three, and we handle the grid paperwork with National Grid Electricity Distribution on every job. Our installer-choice guide gives the full checklist, whoever you pick.

How much do solar panels cost in Mansfield?
In 2026, typical home systems with battery storage cost £8,500 to £11,800 all-in. The 5 to 6kWp system with a 16.1kWh battery is our standard package at £9,995. Scaffolding, electrical work and 0% VAT until 31st March 2027 are all included, and systems without a battery are priced at survey.
Are solar panels worth it in Mansfield?
North Nottinghamshire gets the same 900 to 1,050kWh per kWp a year as the rest of the region. On our standard system that gives a payback of circa 8 years, and the 25 to 30 year panel warranties carry on well beyond it. Our worth-it guide makes the full case.
Do I need planning permission for solar panels in Mansfield?
Usually not, as home installations are nearly always permitted development. The exceptions are listed buildings, the district's 11 conservation areas and the Pleasley Vale cottages covered by the Article 4 direction. We check your address at survey, and our planning guide explains the rules.
Which electricity network covers Mansfield for solar approvals?
National Grid Electricity Distribution runs the network across Mansfield and Nottinghamshire. A standard home system is notified under G98 after connection, and anything larger needs G99 approval first. That paperwork is part of every job we do.
Do you cover the villages around Mansfield?
Yes. Mansfield Woodhouse, Forest Town, Warsop, Clipstone, Rainworth and Blidworth are all part of our everyday coverage, served by our own crews from Bulwell, at the same prices and with the same 5-year workmanship guarantee backed by QANW.
