Solar Panel Installers Bramcote
Spectrum Energy Systems are MCS-certified solar installers covering Bramcote, the Broxtowe village on a wooded sandstone ridge between Beeston and Stapleford. We design and fit solar PV and battery storage across NG9, whether that is a cottage behind the herringbone stone walls of the old village, a family home near Bramcote Hills Park or a house on the streets that join Bramcote to Beeston.
Charles Fletcher, founder of Spectrum Energy Systems, is PRINCE2 certified with 15 years in solar and wind energy, and designs, costs and signs off every quote.

Solar designs we've done in Bramcote
These are real 3D roof designs from Spectrum quotes in Bramcote, for homes and businesses. Every solar quote we send includes one for your own roof, showing where each panel goes.

Commercial Solar Bramcote
Bramcote is mainly residential. Its larger roofs belong to schools such as Bramcote College and Foxwood Academy, and we also cover the pubs, shops and other businesses in and around the village.
A school, club or business that uses its electricity in the daytime gets the most from a solar array, and on those sites payback usually falls somewhere between 4 and 8 years.
We handle the design, the grid application and maintenance afterwards, and businesses can claim capital allowances on the system cost (your accountant can confirm the relief). Read our guide to solar for businesses or see our case studies.
Residential Solar Bramcote: Landlords and Developers
Broxtowe's Part 2 Local Plan, adopted in October 2019, allocates land east of Coventry Lane in Bramcote for 500 homes, alongside 240 west of the lane in Stapleford, with a replacement school to be substantially complete before any of the Bramcote homes are occupied. Solar can count towards Part L on new homes like these, and for landlords with older houses in and around the village it is a practical way to improve an EPC rating. Separately, Broxtowe Borough Council is replacing Bramcote Leisure Centre with a new building on the existing car park, with work due to start in October 2026.
We run portfolio jobs as one project, with phased installs and Part P certification. Read about solar for property portfolios or new-build developments.
Domestic Solar Panels Bramcote: Homeowners
For a Bramcote household, panels on the roof take a share of the daytime demand off the grid, and a battery stores the surplus for the evening. We cover the whole of Bramcote, from the old village and Derby Road to Bramcote Hills and the streets running down towards Beeston.
The conservation area appraisal lists plain tile, fishscale tile, pantile and natural slate roofs in the village, and each one takes a different fixing, so we see your roof before the design is finalised.
Domestic solar and battery installs are zero-rated for VAT, currently due to run until 31 March 2027 (the rate is set by when the job is installed and invoiced), and you are paid for exported power through the Smart Export Guarantee. We can add battery storage, EV charging and, if you want it, Home Assistant with Predbat as an optional extra.
What Matters for Solar in Bramcote
Planning and Conservation
Broxtowe Borough Council is the planning authority for Bramcote. The Bramcote Conservation Area, designated in 1970 and extended in 1986 and 2008, covers the old village, and the council's guidance says that inside it, solar panels on a front or side wall that can be seen from a road, and freestanding panels, need planning permission; roof panels are not on that list, though the council asks residents to check any roof work with it. Bramcote has 12 listed buildings, including the Manor House of 1625, the 14th-century tower of the old church and the almshouses of 1852. We check your house against all of this before we design.
Grid Connection
Bramcote is on National Grid Electricity Distribution's East Midlands network. A typical home system is a G98 notification, and a larger one needs G99 approval before it connects; on a new estate, such as the homes planned off Coventry Lane, your MPAN tells us whether an independent network operator is involved instead.
Homes and Roofs
Bramcote appears in the Domesday Book as Brunecote, and the old village grew along a sandstone ridge, with herringbone-coursed stone walls that form a gorge-like entrance from the south. In the 19th century, alongside farm work, villagers took up framework knitting, lacemaking and coal mining, while large houses such as The Grove, Southfield House and The Grange took up the south of the village; building to the east in the 20th century joined Bramcote to Beeston. Bramcote Hall was demolished in the 1960s, and its former grounds passed to the University of Nottingham.

How It Works
We start with a satellite view of your roof and your electricity use, then send an all-inclusive design and quote (subject to site survey), normally within 48 hours. A site survey confirms the details, we handle the grid paperwork, and most homes are installed in 1 to 2 days, around 4 to 6 weeks from first enquiry; our installation guide explains each step.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which council handles planning for solar in Bramcote?
Broxtowe Borough Council. Bramcote is in Broxtowe, not the City of Nottingham, even though Wollaton, less than two miles to the north-east, is in the city. We check which rules apply to your address before we design.
Can I fit solar panels in the Bramcote conservation area?
On the roof, usually yes. Broxtowe's guidance says panels on a front or side wall visible from a road, and freestanding panels, need planning permission inside the conservation area, and listed buildings need consent, so we check the details for your house first.
Do you cover Stapleford, Beeston and Chilwell too?
Yes. From Bramcote we cover Stapleford, Beeston, Chilwell, Toton and Trowell, and Wollaton and Bilborough on the city side.
Are solar panels worth it in Bramcote?
For most homes and businesses, yes. Payback is typically around 8 to 10 years for homes and 4 to 8 years for businesses, depending on your tariff and how much of the power you use yourself.
How much do solar panels cost in Bramcote?
We quote one all-inclusive price for your roof and your usage, covering scaffolding, labour, the grid application and certification, and the quote shows the projected savings and payback before you commit. Some grid connections also carry a network operator fee, typically around £153 plus VAT.
Do you offer finance?
No, we are not a credit broker. We give you a clear written quote to take to your own lender if you want to borrow, and we do take card payments if you want to use a credit card offer.
