Project Overview
Seeking greater energy self-sufficiency and lower electricity bills, the client approached Spectrum Energy Systems for a Solar PV and Battery Storage solution for their home in Worksop. After a detailed consultation and system design, they opted for a 7.56kWp solar PV system combined with a 9.5kWh GivEnergy battery, ensuring maximum energy independence.
With this system, the client is now generating over 150% of their household energy needs, with the surplus energy being exported to the grid under the Smart Export Guarantee (SEG)—allowing them to earn money on excess energy produced.
System Design & Components
- 18 Solar Panels (7.56kWp total capacity) – High-efficiency panels for optimal energy generation.
- GivEnergy 9.5kWh Battery Storage – Storing excess solar energy for nighttime and low-sunlight periods.
- Hybrid Inverter – Seamlessly managing solar energy generation and battery storage.
- MyEnergi Eddi Immersion Heater Diverter – Using excess solar power to heat water, reducing reliance on grid gas.
Energy Savings & Benefits
- Energy Generation: 150%+ of household energy needs, with surplus exported to the grid.
- Battery Storage: Maximizing self-consumption and reducing grid dependency.
- Hot Water Heating: The MyEnergi Eddi uses excess solar power for hot water, cutting gas costs.
- Export Earnings: Excess energy sold back to the grid through the SEG scheme.
By combining solar power, battery storage, and smart energy management, the system significantly enhances self-sufficiency and financial savings.
Installation Process
Our expert team completed the full installation in two days, including:
- Mounting & wiring of 18 solar panels for maximum efficiency.
- Installation of the Hybrid Inverter & GivEnergy battery for energy storage.
- Integration of the MyEnergi Eddi to divert surplus power to hot water heating.
The installation was completed smoothly, with minimal disruption to the clients, ensuring a seamless transition to renewable energy.
Commissioning & Handover
Upon completion, we provided a detailed system walkthrough, covering:
- Real-time energy monitoring via the GivEnergy and MyEnergi apps.
- Guidance on SEG registration for earning from excess energy export.
- Full certification and compliance with MCS, NICEIC, and building regulations.
Our team remains available for ongoing support, ensuring the client continues to maximize their system’s benefits.
